Ship's Log  08.30.2013

Ahoy Mateys! This be a special post to introduce ye to a wonderfully talented young lady. My daughter, Jackie Ramsdell, has a passion for crocheting. She has opened up her own Etsy shop and she makes the most adorable lovey blankets, characters and more. I wanted to share some photos of her projects along with links to her Etsy page, Facebook page and Pinterest Board. I hope you enjoy this post and visit Jackie's shop soon. Her items are well made and reasonably priced. She can use most any color you want for each project and she even takes requests. If you have a certain theme or character in mind, just ask and she will do her best to create it for you. She will always show you the end product before shipping it to you, to make sure it is what you want. So, please enjoy these pictures and make sure to visit her shop HERE.

Meet my daughter,
Jackie Kathleen Ramsdell

Jackie is a stay-at-home mommy that works hard taking care of her house and my granddaughter, Cassie. Jackie is also due to have her second daughter late Sept/early Oct. (obviously, this is an older photo) She learned the basics of crocheting in school and then quickly surpassed her teacher and began to create gorgeous projects. She stopped crocheting for a while and then got back into it in a big way. As you can see from the pictures, she can create lovey blankets, bigger blankets, characters that stand alone, baby clothing and more. Her Loveys would make great baby shower gifts! She is always adding to her shop, so stop by regularly to see what she has to offer.

Ahoy Mateys! It be time fer me MONDAY MOOD SWING!

Today's MOOD be.......Sisters

I have been blessed with four sisters, 3 older than me and 1 younger. Let me introduce you to the Jones girls.

This is my oldest sister, Linda. She lives in Susanville, California with her hubby Walt. In this picture, she is holding up a quilt that I made for her one Christmas.

This is my second to the oldest sister, Barbara. She lives in Boonville, Arkansas with her hubby Billy. All
of us sisters look alike in some way, but I think that me and Barbara share a lot of physical traits.

This is my sister, Mary. She lives in Crescent City, California with her hubby Alan. Mary is just one year older than I am. She was my protector in school....I was shy and she would hurt (physically) anyone who messed with me. She is holding her granddaughter in this picture.

Norma and Debbie

This is my youngest sister, Norma, and I this past Christmas. Norma lives in Oroville, California with her hubby Rich. In this picture we are holding up two ornaments that Norma gave me for Christmas. She gives me a new ornament every year....she gave me two this time.

Having sisters can be fun. Yes, there are those times when you cannot stand each other, but those times pass quickly. When Norma and I were really young, we were best of friends. Once we hit puberty, we grew apart and hardly even talked to each other. When we both were married with families of our own, we once again became close. A few years back, something happened that tore us apart again, but we managed to get past it and are once again close. Maybe we should be called the YO YO Sisters. ;-)

Even though me and my sisters hardly see each other, we still love each other and pray for each other. We used to have Sister's Vacations. When our mom passed away, we agreed to get together every year for a few days and do something fun. It lasted for quite a few years, but then we all moved away from each other. For awhile, myself, Norma and Linda would go away for a weekend. But, it's been awhile since we have gone anywhere together. The last time was when my grandson, Lucas, wasn't even a year old yet....and he is now five years old. Here are a couple pictures from our last Sister's Vacation. It was a trip to Lake Tahoe. I went on my first helicopter was fun but the ride wasn't nearly fast enough. :-)

So, those are my sisters. I also have 3 brothers named John, Eddie and Paul. (Eddie is with the Lord now)

Thank you for meeting my sisters. Do you have any sisters? How close are you?

Have a great week! God bless.

Today's MOOD be.......Prayer

I know that some of ye have seen this post before. But, I am determined to post about the OurPrayer community every now and then, to get the word out. They are in need of new volunteers all the time.

Do you like to pray for others? Is it a big part of your ministry, your calling? If so, I encourage you to join a team of wonderful volunteers. The OurPrayer community is a place where you can make a difference for God, through prayer.

About OurPrayer

OurPrayer is a Christ-centered ministry that embraces people of all faiths and all ages from all over the world.  We believe in the power of prayer, which lifts the problems of our daily lives, our families and our communities directly to God.
We follow the path pioneered by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale that honors the essence of the gospel, and the values that spring from that message, to the broadest possible audience in a way that will have maximum, life-changing impact.
For the majority of those we reach, committed Christians who look first to God, we serve to reinforce their faith and to strengthen it.  Through prayer and devotion, we inspire people and show them how to live their faith and share it with others.
OurPrayer is a service of Guideposts. Guideposts is the spiritual ally that helps people connect faith-filled values with their daily lives.
"Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer, and listen to the cry of my supplication." Psalm 86:6  (AMP)

Ahoy Mateys! It be time fer me MONDAY MOOD SWING!

Today's MOOD be.......Storms of Life

Rain Cloud Clip Art

We all have our 'storms' in this life. But, how do we deal with them? Do we run and hide? Do we face them head on? Recently, I co-wrote a devotional with author MaryLu Tyndall. I will be having a special blog and giveaway about it one day soon....but for now, I wish to share one of the devotions that I wrote. If you are experiencing a storm right now, I pray this helps you.

  The Perfect Storm

Perhaps you've seen the movie, The Perfect Storm, or you've heard the term before. Wikipedia defines the perfect storm as a confluence of events that drastically aggravates a situation. In other words, it’s a storm of epic proportions, a storm that is so bad, it feels like you won’t survive.
Do you sometimes feel like you’re in the middle of a perfect storm? Have you ever felt like you were surrounded on all sides, with no escape in sight? Personal battles-Physical battles-Spiritual battles? These all make up ‘The Perfect Storm’. But, there is a way out.

During these battles, we need to be like King Hezekiah. In Isaiah, Hezekiah had to deal with his own ‘perfect storms’. He could have tried to take matters into his own hands, but he had learned to turn to God in times of distress.

In Isaiah 37, Hezekiah was told of some very bad news. His response?

When King Hezekiah heard this, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and went into the temple of the LORD. Isaiah 37:1

Putting on sackcloth was a sign of mourning, repentance and humiliation. (are we willing to go that far?) Later, when King Hezekiah received a letter from Sennacherib, pretty much forcing his hand, Hezekiah kept his faith in God.

Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the LORD and spread it out before the LORD. And Hezekiah prayed to the LORD: Isaiah 37:14-15

He ‘spread it before the Lord’. We, too, need to spread our cares and concerns before God.
God’s response to Hezekiah was a direct answer to his prayer:

Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah: "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Because you have prayed to me concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria, this is the word the LORD has spoken against him: Isaiah 37:21-22a

It goes on to mention all that God was going to do concerning Sennacherib; then God’s plans were carried out. So, whenever you are in the midst of your own ‘perfect storm’, don’t try to take matters into your own hands. If you do, you will most definitely sink into the waters of despair. Instead, lay all your cares before God, and watch Him carry out His plan for you. When you give it over to God, something wonderful happens:

If you wish to check out me and MaryLu's devotional, you can find it here. As I said, one day soon, I will be having a special blog about the devotional with a giveaway!

Thanks fer comin' aboard! God bless.
