I SPY WIT' ME LITTLE EYE

Ship's Log  03.30.2013

Ahoy Mateys..This be I SPY WIT' ME LITTLE EYE Saturday...

Alien Pirate Clip Art

Today I will be writing my review on a very special book. It's a book I am sure all of you have heard of and perhaps own.

THE BIBLE

Oh, so you have heard of it. Good.

Description:

The Bible is composed of 66 books in two sections, The Old Testament and The New Testament. It was written by men, but inspired by God. It is His story and our guide in this life.

Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth

My Review:

How do you review the Word of God without sounding like a know-it-all? Well, you can't. That's why I won't even attempt to try.

I simply wish to convey a few thoughts to you.

When I was about 10 years old, my older sister gave me a New Testament Bible. It looked similar to the one above. I loved that Bible, but not because it was the Word of God, but because my sister gave it to me.....I didn't GET IT yet.

When I was a teenager, I did my best to be a very good girl. I never drank alcohol, never swore, never smoked, wasn't promiscuous, tried never to lie, went to Sunday School, memorized verses and I treated my parents with respect. I did all of that for..............my mom. Yep, I wanted to please my mom. Sure, it's good to want to please your parents but I basically worshiped my mom....I still didn't GET IT.

Then, one day my mom was no longer here. God decided it was time to bring her home to Him. She was only 57 and I was only 27. It was at that moment when I realized how much I needed..........God. Yes, I finally GOT IT...

It took my mom dying to finally start living my life for God. I began to read my Bible more, but I wasn't quite understanding everything I was reading. The Old Testament seemed boring and repetitious to me. I felt the Lord calling me to teach, but I didn't know if I was equipped to do so yet. Then, one day, one of our regular Sunday School teachers asked me to help her in the classroom. I agreed. After that Sunday, I felt the pull to teach even stronger. So when I was asked to teach Sunday School, I stepped out in faith and agreed. And I've taught Sunday School for over 29 years now. This past year is the first time in a long time that I have not taught. Will I teach again? Only God knows and He will let me know when He wants me to know. Until then, I will continue to stay in His Word and learn more of His truths.

It wasn't until I was in my late 30's that I finally started truly reading my Bible. I was encouraged by my pastor at that time to read through my Bible each year. I took that challenge and I am currently on my 13th time through. I learned that if you pray before you read your Bible, that God will open up His Word to you and show you things you never knew or realized before. Each time I read through my Bible, I experience something wonderfully new and exciting. The Old Testament is no longer boring to me. In fact, my favorite book in the Bible is in the Old Testament...the book of Job. My faith in God increases each time I read Job; it is an inspiring account.
One thing I always do is read a new Bible each year...I've read different versions as well. If I were to use the same Bible each year, my Bible would probably look like the one above. I read through a new Bible each year, because I am saving them to give to my children and grandchildren. I write notes and underline as I read, so each person who receives one of my Bibles will have a piece of me when I am no longer here.

In closing I wish to encourage you to try to read through your Bible. If you read one chapter a day, it will take you three years to complete. If you read three chapters a day, it will only take you one year to complete.

Please leave a comment telling my if you have ever read through the entire Bible and how many times. If you haven't, tell me why...I would really love to hear from you.

Thanks fer stoppin' by me blog...........God bless.

MONDAY MOOD SWING

Ship's Log  03.25.2013

Ahoy Mateys! This here be me new MONDAY MOOD SWING post. Each Monday, I will be doing/sharing different things, dependin' on me MOOD......

Today's mood be ANGRY AT ANGRY BIRDS!!!!

Look! They are laughing at me!

angry birds 13 Top 20 Angry Birds Pictures Free Download

For those of you who have been living in a cave, Angry Birds is one of the most popular games played today. It started out, I believe, on the Android OS, went to smartphones and is now EVERYWHERE!

I have been playing this game on Facebook. It started out innocent enough, playing against my husband and daughter. But what started out as a laid back, fun and relaxing game has turned into a true hate fest on my behalf. I now know why it is called Angry Birds. Those little birds can take the most sweet person and turn her into someone who wants to toss those birds across the room!

POWER UPS

As you play this game, it encourages you to use Power Ups. These could be bombs, sling shots, earthquakes, etc.....

DON'T BE FOOLED!!!!  These so called Power Ups only make you more mad, they are there to taunt you. I will be playing the game and see the opportunity to use a bomb to get ahead in points and what happens? I use that bomb and it overshoots the target! Now, my hubby and daughter will tell you that it is my fault that I overshoot things, but that's only because they want to win!

If you have never played Angry Birds, be warned, it can be addictive.  It can also be the cause of a lot of anger issues between you and those birds.

My daughter found the picture below and I thought I'd share it with you:

So, you may ask me 'Are you still going to play Angry Birds?' Well, of course I will still play! This game may make me scream at my computer screen, it may make me want to toss those birds to the moon, but what better way to get out my frustration? It's better than smacking my hubby, isn't it?

What about you? Do you play Angry Birds? Are you any good at it, or are you like me and just play hoping to take third place? Oh, there are times when I take second place and once I even placed first (total fluke) but for the most part, I struggle just to stay in third. Let me know in the comments your thoughts on Angry Birds or any game that you play that irritates you, yet you play because you truly like it.

Thanks for stopping by......God bless!

*******

My Review:

May I just say, Bravo Ronie!
This story has so many twists and angles, that I guarantee you will never get bored. Just when you think the story is about to slow down....BAM....you get hit by a new 'Wow' moment. While reading this story, I found myself so enthralled by all that Shiloh Blake had to go through, I realized that I was actually holding my breath at times. The characters are so intriguing, especially Shiloh and Reece (or should I say Brutus? Haha).
This was actually the first full length novel I read by Ronie and it certainly wasn't the last. If you enjoy 'edge of your seat' adventures, 'Dead Reckoning' should be on your reading list.
Prepare to hold your breath......yes, it is indeed a breathtaking adventure!

A Simple Winter
by Rosalind Lauer

Description:

THE PROMISE OF A HOME,
THE HEARTBREAK OF AN IMPOSSIBLE LOVE

As a budding journalist with a major newspaper, Remy McCallister is eager to prove herself. While investigating an unsolved crime, Remy winds up in the tightly woven Amish community of Lancaster County, the last place she would ever expect to find herself. The story leads her to Adam King and his ten younger siblings, who are trying to sustain their warm, loving home in the wake of the murder of their parents. Although Remy tries to remain professional, she is captivated by the Kings. With her own mother gone and her father disengaged from their relationship, Remy longs for a home and a family just like that of these good, simple people.

Suddenly patriarch of his large family, Adam struggles to do the right thing for his siblings, his community, and his God. He neither wants nor needs the complications that spirited Remy brings. But as much as he tries to push her away, even as he counts all the ways this lovely outsider cannot possibly remain in his world—or in his heart—the wondrous light she shines upon his troubled soul cannot be denied. Adam can only pray for the strength and the faith to get this Englisher girl out of their lives for good.

Snowbound with the Kings, Remy experiences the wonder and the chores of a simple winter among the Plain People, as well as the friendship of their warm community. When her peaceful interlude ends, does she dare to reveal a killer in their midst, knowing that she may lose the love of this special family and this remarkable man?

*****

My Review:

“Forgiveness is like a three-pronged fork. There's forgiveness from the person you wronged. Forgiveness from God. And then, you've got to forgive yourself.”

This quote from the book tells it all. This is a lovely story about love and forgiveness. I admit that I really haven't read many books about the Amish, but this book makes me want to read more about them. A simple life, yet a hard life......
Rosalind Lauer did a wonderful job bringing her characters to life. I felt the hurt, the love, the warmth of the King home.......so inviting. Adam and Remy's story is one that will stay with you for a long time; the whole King family will stir up emotions inside you.
I encourage you to read this book if you are struggling with hurt and forgiveness. Or if you simply want to steal away to a simpler way of life and enjoy watching the King story unfold. Guaranteed to please, no matter the reason for reading it.
I give it a big thumb's up!

You can purchase this book here:

*********************

Now, I would have loved to share a few paragraphs from these novels with you, but I lost my ebook copy of Dead Reckoning when I switched to my Kindle Fire and I gave away my copy of A Simple Winter to someone else to enjoy. But, you can take my word for it, they are both very well written and exciting in their own way.

So, there ye have it, two more books to sink yer teeth into, Mateys!

Thanks for stopping by....Happy Reading and God bless!

MONDAY MOOD SWING

Ship's Log  03.18.2013

Ahoy Mateys! This here be me new MONDAY MOOD SWING post. Each Monday, I will be doing/sharing different things, dependin' on me MOOD......

Today's mood is SCRAPBOOKING.....

Do you scrapbook? I love to scrapbook. I even have a wall calendar that I scrapbook each month. Here is one of my most recent calendar pages:

Some scrapbook projects take longer than others. This particular one took me quite a while. Each ship's wheel had to be cut out, then each picture (of the crew) had to be fitted into the wheels.

Other projects take just a few moments to complete, such as the one below:

Simple and quick.

I find scrapbooking quite therapeutic. When I am working on a project, I can pretty much block out the whole world and focus.

You can scrapbook any way you want....Look at these pages I did awhile ago:

Ooops, I just noticed that one string is loose....the string touching his knee should be attached to his bottom. LOL

As you can see I enjoy scrapbooking pictures of my grandson. I also have some pages with my granddaughter as well. Here are a couple:

You can find great ideas online for your scrapbook pages. Or you can just wing it....it doesn't matter, because what you will create will be priceless. Check these out:

So, if you are looking for something to spur your imagination and creativity, try scrapbooking. If you already dabble in scrapbooking, tell me in the comments. I'd love to hear from fellow scrapbookers!

Thanks fer stoppin' by Mateys! See ye on WORDLESS WEDNESDAY WITH A TWIST !
