BOOKS:
This week I want to tell you about a great book written by Carrie Fancett Pagels....THE STEEPLECHASE
This is a novella that reads quickly, yet leaves you feeling like you read an entire novel. I applaud Carrie for all of the great books she's penned...she has truly been blessed with a talent for writing great characters.
Description:
Martha Osborne fears for her six-year-old brother, who was shuffled off to boarding school when his British mother departed to England.
Set in Hampton Roads, Virginia, in the build-up to the War of 1812, expert rider Martha plans to substitute for her older brother in a “race to the steeple” to win the prize—and a bet with Phillip Paulson, equestrian trainer at Yorkview Academy, to help have her little brother returned home. When Phillip stumbles upon the real reasons behind the secret race he finds he may not be able to keep his end of the bargain. Can he save Martha and her brother? And will his heart be lost in the process?

Here is my review....Like the book, it's short, but sweet.
Fast paced and fun!
Carrie never disappoints. The Steeplechase is short, sweet and totally worth the read. As with all of Carrie's stories, this one flows in a way that keeps you reading until you finish reading the book. It always amazes me how an author can write such a complete story in a few chapters. Phillip and Martha are great characters and I just know that you will fall in love with their story as I have.
I highly recommend this book and any other books written by Carrie. You can order your copy by clicking on the link below.
Someone once said that they don't make tv shows like they used to anymore....and I totally agree. That's why I love to watch MeTV. It is a station that only plays reruns of classic tv shows. Shows that entertained in a clean and wholesome way. Here are just a few of the shows it offers:
Carol Burnett and Friends, Diagnosis Murder, Bonanza, CHIPs, The Big Valley, Columbo, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, The Love Boat, I Love Lucy, Matlock....and the list goes on. Check it out here:

BLOGS:
This week I'd like to introduce the Overcoming With God blog. This is a great blog that offers a lot. These ladies have touched and inspired many, including Chappy. Here is some info that I copied from the blog to give you an idea of who runs the blog and what it's all about.
The Overcoming With God (OWG) blog features interviews and guest posts about Christian authors (and readers) coping with, and overcoming, life's issues, with the help of our Lord. We hope that readers will find posts here that will serve as an example and an encouragement. OWG believes we can learn from each other's testimonies of God's faithfulness in bringing healing to our lives. When we review books, we were looking for inspiring and encouraging stores that reflect God's love and provision.
Our inspirational verse is John 16:33 (NIV) "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
