CHAPPY DEBBIE'S NEW YEAR MUST READS!!!

AUTHORS I HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Week One

*********

INTRODUCING AUTHOR
MARYLU TYNDALL

My favorite author and friend, MaryLu Tyndall is an inspiration to many through her books and the posts on her blog. She has a passion for spreading God's message and isn't afraid to speak the truth. She writes what she loves and has a few genres under her writing belt.

Bio:

Award winning and best-selling author, MaryLu Tyndall dreamt of pirates and sea-faring adventures during her childhood days on Florida's Coast. After obtaining a degree in Math and working as software engineer for 15 years, she decided to test the waters as a writer. With now more than seventeen books published, she makes no excuses for the deeply spiritual themes embedded within her romantic adventures. As a follower of Christ, her stories often reflect her own journey and walk with God. Her hope is that readers will not only be entertained but will be brought closer to the Creator who loves them beyond measure. In a culture that accepts the occult, wizards, zombies, and vampires without batting an eye, MaryLu hopes to show the awesome present and powerful acts of God in a dying world. MaryLu makes her home with her husband, six children, three grandkids, and three cats on the California coast, where her imagination still surges with the sea.

I asked MaryLu which three of her books were her favorites.....and what made her write those stories. Here are the three she chose and her reasons why she wrote them.

The Ransom

What made you write this book?

There's always many reasons I write the books that I do. More often than not, God gives me a theme or a lesson or even a Scripture He wants me to convey through story. Sometimes I already have a time period and location, other times I work around the theme He gives me and decide which storyline fits it best. I had been wanting to write the story of the Port Royal, Jamaica earthquake for years. I mean, pirates, adventure, tall ships and an earthquake that sunk a haven for pirates? It was a story that desperately needed to be told!  Add in a romance, a dual-identity, a villain, and the theme that even though things look bad, God is directing our steps in order to save us.  Hence, The Ransom was born.

Book Description:

Port Royal, Jamaica 1692

Living in a city deemed the wickedest in the world is no easy task for Miss Juliana Dutton. To make matters worse, with an ailing father and a drunken fool for a brother, she is forced to take over the running of the family business in order to survive. When a nosey suitor threatens everything, she spurns him and instead becomes engaged to the town idiot, Lord Munthrope. But is he an idiot? The more her problems push her closer to the man, the more she realizes he is not who he seems.

Alexander Hyde, the Pirate Earl, is the most feared pirate in the Caribbean--feared, successful, wealthy, handsome, and bored, so terribly bored. When an unexpected event allows him to get close to Juliana, a woman he has loved from afar for years, he takes it. But leading a double life causes more problems than it's worth.  A restless crew and a long-time enemy out to capture and hang Alex, put Juliana in grave danger.

As tremors rock the city of Port Royal, Juliana's faith in God is equally shaken. Not only have things gotten worse, but she is confused by her feelings for both Munthrope and the Pirate Earl. Deception, intrigue, mutiny, death, betrayal, all attempt to tear the lovers apart. But the final blow comes when a massive earthquake strikes the city and threatens to sink it into the sea.

The Reckoning

What made you write this book?

What's not to love about a time travel pirate romance? This was another story I'd been dying to write for years. I've always loved time travel stories and hadn't read many about pirates. This is probably one of my more humorous stories. Imagine a modern day woman sent back 300 years to land on a pirate ship. The only problem is, she thinks it's all a hoax!  The theme God gave me, or should I say themes? Trust, Faith, Fear, and that God is in control, even through time.

Book Description:

When Morgan Shaw crept into the hold of an old pirate ship replica at San Diego’s Annual Tall Ship Festival, her only intention was to avoid the guy who had just dumped her and who was now boarding the ship with two women on his arm. What she didn’t expect was to wake up aboard a real pirate ship three-hundred years in the past. But of course, it wasn’t real. Her wealthy father had obviously staged it all in an effort to get her mind off her upcoming chemo. Or had he?

Pirate Rowan Dutton seeks enough treasure to repay a debt to his sister and reinstate the Dutton name among British Jamaican Society. He is but one major haul away from accomplishing his goal when a strange woman appears on his ship and causes him to lose his prey. Despite his anger, he is enthralled with the little minx, her strange clothing, odd speech, and her insistence that they are all actors playing a charade paid for by her father.

Yet when the brazen little lady divulges Rowan’s secret to a longtime nemesis, events are triggered that could cost them both their lives and change the course of history forever.

She Walks in Power

What made you write this book?

I believe that part of the ministry God has given me is to wake up the church from its powerless slumber. Whenever I read the book of ACTS, I long to see God's people express His love and His power like the early believers did. Yet, I've seen so little of it here in America. In She Walks in Power and the subsequent books in the series (not yet written) my hope is to give the reader a glimpse into eternity and into the spirit realm (which is the real realm) and to experience through the characters how to allow the power of the Holy Spirit to do great wonders through us, as Jesus said we would do. Of course, it's a medieval romance full of passion, knights, castles, and a heroine who can hold her own with a bow and arrow!

Book Description:

Alexia D'Clere didn't ask to be Protector of the Spear, but after her dying mother gave her the tiny metal object and made her promise to keep it safe, she had no choice. Orphaned at age eight, she began to take over the running of her parent's castle with the help of a trusted steward. Yet, when a plot to murder her was revealed, a friar whisked her away to live hidden in the forest. There, she learned to shoot expertly with bow and arrow and hone her skills to see into the spirit realm.

Now, at eighteen, Alexia continues to keep the Spear protected, provide meat for the starving village, while secretly caring for her ill sister who still lives in the castle. With Alexia's powers of spiritual discernment and her skill as an archer, she is no match for those who come for the spear. That is until she meets Ronar LePeine, one of the King's elite guard.

Ronar desires nothing more than to do his duty to God and King and pay penance for past sins. Yet a forest sprite with red, flaming hair blocks his every move, all the while enchanting him like no other. Something evil lurks at Castle Luxley, and both Ronar and Alexia are soon thrust into the middle of a spiritual battle which will not only test their very beliefs, but put them both in mortal danger.
