BOOKS

A few weeks ago, Chappy went through all of her books, sorting them into categories: Read, TBR and Giveaway.

Here are two books that I am going to be giving away this week. They are beautiful books with some great advice for parents and grandmothers.

(From Amazon):

A Grandmother's Prayers

It’s not uncommon to hear someone say, “If it weren’t for my grandmother’s prayers, I wouldn’t be walking with God.” Offering inspiring stories, Scripture-based prayer topics, and practical ideas for fostering loving relationships, A Grandmother’s Prayers leads you on a sixty-day journey of prayer for your grandchildren. Throughout the pages of this devotional prayer guide, you’ll find insightful and uplifting daily readings, sample prayers, activities and conversation starters, and questions for reflection and application. Author Kay Swatkowski encourages you to talk to God about your grandchildren, talk to them about God, and pass on a strong spiritual legacy from one generation to another.

(You can buy a copy HERE)

Prayers for Your Children

Many parents have witnessed the power of faithful prayer over their child’s life, praying for health and healing from heartbreaks and for spiritual awakening and future direction. Inside Prayers for Your Children, pastor and author James Banks offers ninety accessible, Scripture-packed prayers you can pray for your kids during every season of their lives. Filled with heartfelt wisdom and truth, these ready-to-use prayers cover specific needs, including knowing Christ as Savior, loving the Lord and others, experiencing God’s protection, and walking in purity. Witness the power of prayer as you glean through the pages of this book and talk with God on behalf of your child.

A Grandmother's Prayers author Kay Swatkowski:

Kay Swatkowski is a Christian Counselor working at North Point Church in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois. As a former women's ministry director and children's ministry director, she realizes how important it is for parents and grandparents to provide a spiritually encouraging environment for children. As a mother of four married children and grandmother of six, she has come to believe the greatest gift she can give to her children and grandchildren is the gift of prayer. Kay has been married to Ray for forty-one years. Together they have been church planters in St. Louis and in Menton, France. Kay and Ray are nature lovers and avid readers, both passions which they hope to pass on to their grandchildren. Their grandchildren range in age from eighteen years to five months. Their last grandchild is joining their family through adoption.

MOVIES & TV

The Butler and I watched Star Trek Beyond this past week and I was a bit skeptical at first. I had a few qualms coming into this new movie, but I figured I'd give it a chance. HUGE STAR TREK FAN HERE. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. We both enjoyed the movie....not as much as the first two movies, but it was entertaining.
One of my concerns about this movie was the fact that the actor who played Chekov, Anton Yelchin, had died in real life recently. I will miss him in future movies, he was an adorable and lovable young man.
Another concern I had was the franchise wanting to please the LGBT community....making the character Sulu gay. It is just a minuscule scene and nothing bad....I still do not approve, but as long as they do not ever expand on it, I will continue to watch future movies.

I still crack up when I think of these characters. Bones and Mr. Spock are hilarious!
