Ship's Log

August 13th-August 19th

Ahoy Mateys! Welcome aboard, find yerself a nice spot on the deck and enjoy.

Over the next few weeks, I will be posting about this wonderful upcoming release by MaryLu Tyndall. I will be sharing updates and memes and eventually I hope to have a nice giveaway. Keep a weather eye out!

SHE WALKS IN POWER is a medieval tale about a young Lady that has been tasked with being the Keeper of the Spear of Destiny.

About this series(from MaryLu's blog):

Protectors of the Spear  - A Medieval Romance Trilogy

Ever wondered what happened to the spear the Roman soldier used to stab Jesus's side?  Many legends surround what has been labeled the Spear of Destiny. Does it contain the power to heal, to ward off devils, to defeat one's enemy's in battle? Throughout the ages men and women alike have sought to own this powerful relic, some for evil purposes, others for good. But only a few have been called by God to protect the spear at all costs. Follow the lives of three such women, each given specific supernatural powers to aid them in their lifelong commitment to keep the spear safe.

This series is starting off great. She Walks in Power will grab you from the start and keep you reading and reading and reading.....and since I was helping MaryLu out by reading AND editing, it took me a lot longer to read it. Oh, how it pained me to read soooo slow. But, I am grateful to be able to help her out.

Along with reading/editing this book, I also created some memes to help spread the word...I will be sharing some here each week. I am starting off with some character memes that I've whet yer appetite for this great read.

Here are four character memes that I have shared already on social media, along with a little of my own thoughts of each:

Lady Alexia D’Clere:

This is the heroine of the first book. Alexia is a strong-willed young lady who wants nothing more than to make things right again and go back home. She is branded a thief and is known as the Falcon of Emerald Forest. She has a wonderful mentor, Friar will read more about him in another post. Being the Keeper of the Spear can be quite an overwhelming that will keep you intrigued throughout this book.

Sir Ronar LePeine:

This is the hero of the first book and may I just say "Yummy!" Sorry, Chappy lost her head there for a moment. Ronar is a man on  a mission...although it's not the mission he thought it would be. God works in mysterious ways, as Ronar soon finds out. When he comes across the Falcon of Emerald Forest, his life makes a huge turn and you are going to LOVE where it goes. He is tasked to find the Spear of Destiny and return it to the King, but he soon finds out that it is easier said than done. Hahaha! Love it.

Sir Damien LaRage:

This is one of Ronar's best friends and fellow Knight. The man drinks too much, but time will change his ways. He is loyal and strong...with something in his past that drives him and keeps him on his toes. He is a great character and I am looking forward to learning more about his past.

Lady Cristiana D'Clere:

Sister of Alexia, Cristiana is a very sweet and trusting young woman. She is the Lady of Luxley Castle, yet since she is always sick, she has to put the Castle in the hands of a 'pretender'.....unbeknownst to her, someone who is trying to take over permanently. (more on that character in a later post) I can see the strength in this character in the way she keeps fighting to survive....she will definitely have a strong showing in a future book...mayhaps Book 2?

So, there you have 4 of the characters. I will share a couple more next week.

Now, for the description of the book (from Amazon):

Alexia D'Clere didn't ask to be Protector of the Spear, but after her dying mother gave her the tiny metal object and made her promise to keep it safe, she had no choice. Orphaned at age eight, she began to take over the running of her parent's castle with the help of a trusted steward. Yet, when a plot to murder her was revealed, a friar whisked her away to live hidden in the forest. There, she learned to shoot expertly with bow and arrow and hone her skills to see into the spirit realm.

Now, at eighteen, Alexia continues to keep the Spear protected, provide meat for the starving village, while secretly caring for her ill sister who still lives in the castle. With Alexia's powers of spiritual discernment and her skill as an archer, she is no match for those who come for the spear. That is until she meets Ronar LePeine, one of the King's elite guard.

Ronar desires nothing more than to do his duty to God and King and pay penance for past sins. Yet a forest sprite with red, flaming hair blocks his every move, all the while enchanting him like no other. Something evil lurks at Castle Luxley, and both Ronar and Alexia are soon thrust into the middle of a spiritual battle which will not only test their very beliefs, but put them both in mortal danger.

My Review:

Power is an understatement!

MaryLu Tyndall has woven yet another tale that grabs you from the start and keeps you reading until the end. I cannot get over how much I enjoyed this story. Medieval knights, maidens, villages....throw in an evil warlock and you have the makings of a thrilling ride. This story has characters that are so real, you will find yourself totally mesmerized by them. You can't help but cheer them on.....hoping that all will work out for them.
Ronar, a great knight to be sure and Alexia, the feisty lady that keeps him guessing, will have you smiling from ear to ear. I truly adore them. And don't get me started on Ronar's fellow knights, Jarin and Damien....and the friar!
I will say no more, for I do not wish to spoil ANY of this fantastic story for other readers.
